Eugene School District 4JIntroduction
A summary of the history of the OSLIS Project can be located at <http://www.openc.k12.or.us/citeintro/about/history.html>. Briefly, the OSLIS (Oregon School Library Information System) Project was started as a means to improve students' skills in doing research with online sources such as search engines and databases on the Internet. This site was created for the purpose of disseminating information from the project members, teachers, and library media specialists statewide.
Basically, the purpose of the site is twofold:
- Assisting students in using online resources for research.
- Assisting teachers and media specialists in using and teaching students about using online resources.
The project follows the concept of OPEN's JITT (Just-In-Time-Training) site, where information and tutorials were directed toward getting individuals familiar with computer and Internet usage.
