Introduction


An on-demand assessment is composed of a selection or selections that have not yet been taught to students. Curriculum-embedded selections may also be used. The format might allow for margin notes beside the selection in addition to a series of open-ended questions following text. Completion of this type of work sample would generally be spread over two or three sessions on consecutive days. All work is done in the classroom with limited opportunity to revisit work after it has been submitted for scoring. Following are guidelines on how to develop this type of assessment:
